Focus Groups and Surveys

Why Participate?
One way you can help advance vasculitis research is by participating in focus groups or completing surveys. Focus groups & surveys are typically conducted by marketing research companies on behalf of pharmaceutical companies, other healthcare industry related companies, or research institutions. There are a variety of reasons why a company or research institution may conduct a focus group or ask people to complete a survey such as:

  • Gaining a better understanding of disease activity
  • Improving a product related to disease diagnosis or treatment such as in autoinjector used to give medications
  • Evaluating the quality-of-life impact of a disease
  • Gathering data that can help researchers find common links that may improve diagnosis and treatment

Who Can Participate?

Eligibility to participate varies depending on the focus group or survey. You may be asked to fill out a brief questionnaire to determine eligibility. It can be frustrating if you find you are ineligible to participate, but there are usually very specific criteria that participants need to meet. These criteria are set by the company or research institution not the Vasculitis Foundation.

Keep applying whenever you have the opportunity. Your willingness to apply, even if you are not chosen to participate, helps further research by ensuring that companies are able to find enough participants who do meet the criteria for participation.
