Vasculitis Expert Receives the Vaccine
Dr. Carol Langford, Director of the Cleveland Clinic Center for Vasculitis Care and Research, received her first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine on New Year’s Eve. Dr. Langford is recognized worldwide for her clinical care and research in the field of vasculitis.
Dr. Langford studies giant cell arteritis, Takayasu arteritis, GPA, MPA, EGPA, and other forms of vasculitis. As a longtime VF Medical Consultant, Dr. Langford is a regular speaker at our patient and family conferences and has served as an advisor to the VF Research Committee and Board of Directors.
From 1994 to 2004, Dr. Langford was a senior investigator within the Immunologic Diseases Section of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). At the NIH, Dr. Langford’s research focused on vasculitic diseases, where she was Principal Investigator for nine vasculitis-related protocols. While at the NIH Dr. Langford worked with Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, director of the NIAID and Chief Medical Advisor for President Joseph Biden.
She is Co-Editor with Dr. Fauci of the Harrison’s Rheumatology taken from Harrisons’s Principles of Internal Medicine, now in its 4th edition.
