Kalen Young, Director of Research Affairs
Vasculitis Patient-Powered Research Network (VPPRN)

Kalen has served the VPPRN since 2014 first as the Network Manager and is now in her current role as Director of Research of Affairs. Kalen strongly believes in the mission and capabilities of the VPPRN and affirms the idea that research about disease prevention and treatment needs to be relevant to patients in order to achieve maximum benefit. She has employed her professional knowledge to help develop Network-wide policies and procedures and has maintained direct oversight of all day-to-day project activities.

Kalen has her Masters in Social Justice and Human Rights and has expertise in qualitative research methodologies. Her experience engaging in critical social analysis and working with disenfranchised populations has equipped her with the analytical skill to help identify barriers to participation in research and strategies to overcome those barriers. She has helped the Network exponentially grow and conduct meaningful vasculitis research.

Kalen also serves as a liaison between the VPPRN and the Vasculitis Clinical Research Consortium (VCRC) as well as the VF Research Committee. She is also the project manager for the Autoimmune and Systemic Inflammatory Syndrome Collaborative Research Group (ASIS CRG).
