When you or a family member was diagnosed with vasculitis, where did you turn? If you’re like many in our community, you turned to the Vasculitis Foundation.
Over the past 30 years, the Vasculitis Foundation has played a vital role in alleviating the isolation that patients experience when these life-threatening diseases affect them. Through our educational resources, vasculitis researchers and healthcare professionals, we have helped patients receive the support they needed.
Over the past 20 years, we have led the way in raising awareness of vasculitis. This year we teamed up with Brandon Hudgins, a professional runner, Olympic hopeful, and patient with GPA, Wegener’s, to encourage members to “get moving,” to share their stories of hope and courage to bring greater understanding of the impact that vasculitis has on our patients and their families.
Over the past 15 years, we have championed vasculitis research with over $2 million committed to 42 studies worldwide. We have also funded five fellowships and committed an additional $250,000 to support the training of physician-scientists to learn how to care for patients with vasculitis and to perform research.
Over the last year with your support, we have
- Assisted 15,000 patients through the VF email and telephone helplines
- Directed 4,500 patients to vasculitis centers and medical specialists
- Designated $100,000 for training two new vasculitis experts
- Educated 2,500 patients and caregivers through our webinars and
- Funded $200,000 in new research for three vasculitis research studies
