Dr. Merkel is the principal investigator of the Vasculitis Clinical Research Consortium and the co-principal investigator of the Vasculitis Patient-Powered Research Network. He is an internationally recognized leader in clinical research and care in vasculitis and is the principal investigator on multiple NIH, FDA, and PCORI research grants that focus on clinical and translational investigation in vasculitis.
