My name is Judy. I had mouth ulcers and blood blisters, also blood shot eyes, and cellulitis in one ear. My GP sent me for a chest x-ray and did blood tests. He made an appointment for me to see a Rheumatologist.
I got so much worse before the appointment that I was admitted to hospital. My lungs were affected and also my kidneys, my hands swelled to the size of boxing gloves, my wedding ring had to be cut off.
By now I had developed a rash. A doctor said it was a vasculitis rash. They did lots of blood test to find the cause. I will never forget the feeling of certainty that I was going to die. I was convinced I would not make it to sixty.
After treatment with steroids, lots of hospital and GP visits, and a couple of years to start feeling more like my old self, I am in remission, and feel more confident. I found the VF and also the UK Vasculitis very helpful, informative and supportive.
This photo was taken on a cruise for my sixtieth birthday. Thank you for being there for people like me who find ourselves in this nightmare situation. Best wishes, Judy.
