My name is Helen. A year after my husband died, I was diagnosed with GPA. This resulted in 10 weeks in hospital last year. Now, almost 10 months since, life is slowly becoming almost “normal”. In the past seven weeks, I have celebrated my 70th birthday, sold the family home and moved to a new place in a retirement village. As I can’t feel my feet properly (peripheral neuropathy), my car is idle. I am able to go places with friends driving me and I can walk short distances, and use the wheelie walker for longer excursions. I am in an independent-living type of village, but am assisted with help coming in.
