Curry Koening, M.D., M.S., is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Utah and Salt Lake City Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Koening is a Rheumatologist whose primary clinical interest is in vasculitis. Dr. Koening received his M.D. degree from Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine in 2000. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Utah in 2003 and Rheumatology Fellowship at the same institution in 2005. He then completed an NIH sponsored vasculitis fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Center for Vasculitis Care and Research in 2007. At the same time, he received his M.S. degree in clinical research from Case Western Reserve University. Upon completion of his fellowship he joined the rheumatology faculty at the University of Utah in 2007. He currently is Director of the Vasculitis Clinic at the University of Utah and Salt Lake City Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He is board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology. His research interests include pathogenic determinants of vasculitis and anemia of inflammation. He is a steering committee member for the NIH sponsored Vasculitis Clinical Research Consortium and participates in several multi-center clinical trials. He has published several articles in peer review journals and is a fellow of the American College of Rheumatology and Utah Medical Association.
