Volunteer Recognized for Years of Service

2012 Bruce Macdonald Volunteer Spirit Awardee

July 22, 2012

Jane Thomas, RN, was awarded the 2012 Bruce Macdonald Volunteer Spirit Award at the Vasculitis Symposium at Emory University Hospital on July 21.

Jane is a longtime member of the Vasculitis Foundation and the founder and leader of the Atlanta VF Chapter. She has spearheaded numerous awareness and fundraising campaigns over the past 10 years and has partnered with Emory University to increase interest in vasculitis within the medical community. Her knowledge and expertise as a registered nurse has been a tremendous help to the members of her chapter and members nationwide.

The Bruce Macdonald Volunteer Spirit Award was established in 2006 to honor outstanding volunteers. The award is named in honor of Bruce Macdonald, a longtime member of the VF. Many of you know Bruce through past symposiums and the online community of message boards, chat rooms and Face Book.  Bruce’s mission is simple:  He always goes the extra step to help patients become more educated about their disease and reassuring the patient that he/she will get better.

We are grateful to Jane and to all of our volunteers for the countless hours they spend helping to improve the lives of our patients and forward the mission of the VF.
