Symposium 2013: Session to Focus on Churg Strauss Syndrome

Churg Strauss Disease has a new name (Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis {EGPA})! Come learn what else is new in treatments, outcomes and ongoing research during the EGPA session on Friday afternoon of the 2013 Vasculitis Symposium. Dr. Christian Pagnoux, Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, Canada and Dr. Rodrigo Cartin-Ceba, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota will co-chair the session. Both physicians have extensive experience treating patients with vasculitis with a special interest in EGPA patients. The two-hour session will include time for Q&A from the audience and the discussion will continue on Saturday during the “Lunch with the Doctors” session.

SPECIAL GATHERING! The Churg Strauss Syndrome Association is organizing a special Friday night dinner for EGPA patients and their families/friends to meet and visit before the Dessert Reception on Friday evening.

Drs. Pagnoux and Cartin-Ceba will also team up together on Saturday morning for the session “Lung Involvement in Vasculitis”.

Dr. Pagnoux provides patient care and is an investigator of the Vasculitis Clinical Research Consortium and is co-founder of the Canadian Vasculitis Network (CanVasc), a national scientific and clinical research network. The fundamental aims of CanVasc are to help optimize the management of vasculitis, and to conduct and assist with studies on vasculitis in Canada to improve outcomes. Dr. Pagnoux served as Vice President of the French Vasculitis Study Group, which has been in the forefront of advancing understanding of vasculitis in France and Europe.

 

 

 

Dr. Cartin-Ceba is in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Mayo Clinic, which provides state-of-the-art clinical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment services to patients with health problems such as asthma, acute and chronic pulmonary embolism, emphysema, including lung volume reduction surgery, hepatopulmonary syndrome, interstitial lung disease, lung cancer, Lung transplantation, sarcoidosis, granulomatous lung diseases, portopulmonary hypertension, pulmonary vascular diseases, fungal infections of the lung, granulomatosis with polyangiitis  (GPA/Wegener’s). Dr. Cartin-Ceba’s current research projects focus mainly in critical care medicine, ANCA-associated vasculitis and Pulmonary Vascular diseases.
