The VF is pleased to welcome Dr. Luis Felipe Flores-Suarez to the VF Medical Consultants. Dr. Flores-Suarez is Mexican by nationality and resides in Mexico City. He became Board Certified in Mexico as an internist in 1994 and completed a residency in rheumatology in 1995. He speaks three languages: Spanish, English and German.
In his current position Dr. Flores-Saurez works as a researcher in the medical sciences in the Department of Immunology and Rheumatology at the Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Medicas y Nutricion Salvador Zubiran in Mexico City. He cares for many of our vasculitis patients in Mexico and is extensively involved in research. His current research projects include: “Factors related to end-stage renal disease in Wegener’s granulomatosis” and “Clinical characteristics of Microscopic Polyangiitis in Mexican patients”.
Dr. Flores-Saurez also served as Chairman of the 13th International Vasculitis and ANCA Workshop held in Cancun, Mexico in April 2007. The Workshop brings together practitioners and scientists from the fields of immunology, rheumatology, nephrology, pulmonology, pathology, cardiology, infectious diseases, and many subspecialties to discuss recently completed research, current and future research efforts. The biennial Workshop provides an excellent forum for learning and collaboration between the many international researchers studying vasculitis. Published on Sunday, March 23, 2008
