Get Involved

Working Together

Bob SahsBob SahsJuly marks my first anniversary as a member of the VF Board of Directors. Since December of last year, I have been serving as the foundation’s VP of Resource Development. It has been a pleasure working with our Executive Director and fellow Board Members. Many changes and improvements have occurred this past year and more changes and improvements are on the way. However, what was accomplished could not have been done without us “Working Together”.

Fundraising is an integral and vital part of the VF’s financial health. Thanks to our members’ dedicated efforts in organizing fundraising events, the VF is able to fulfill its mission and implement its critical Support, Awareness and Research Programs. However to keep our financial health strong, we need more of our Vasculitis Family Members to get involved and “Work Together”.

Please visit our Advocacy and Events Tabs to learn more about upcoming activities.

I realize for some, taking time in your daily lives to get involved can be difficult. However, there are many ways to get involved. Let me give you a couple examples. For the past five years, Dave & Mary Nichols from Temperance, Michigan have organized a golf outing fundraiser in memory of their son, Jeffrey. For the outings to be successful, they need an assortment of prizes. Also, for the past five years, Danette Anderson organizes a Poker Bike Ride in Graham, North Carolina. Danette had some golf hats and shirts left over from her last event, so she sent them to Dave & Mary to use as prizes.

In another case, Mike Bailey in California is in the planning stages of holding a golf outing fundraiser of his own. One of Mike’s business associates, a well respected artist in the golf world, donated a print of one of his works of art; a portrait of the late and great Sam Snead. Though not the original, this print was autographed by Sam Snead. Folks, this is valuable. Because Mike’s golf outing is still in the planning stages, he asked me if we could use the print somewhere else. As it turns out, Donna Bricker in Blacklick, Ohio will host a VF Benefit Dinner/Silent Auction on Sept. 22. Mike is sending the print to Donna where we expect the print to raise a minimum of $1,000 for the VF.

By “Working Together “ Danette was able to help Mary and Dave , and though Mike Bailey has yet to get his golf outing off the ground, he is helping to raise funds for the VF by helping Donna halfway across the country.

So, please visit this website often; see what’s happening and see if you can get involved. Let’s “Work Together”.
