For those of you who do not know, my brother-in-law, Rick Russell and his family have been dealing with serious health issues over the last few years. Rick has gone through a battery of tests, doctors, diagnosis and difficulties where it finally appears the doctors understand what he is suffering from. Rick has been diagnosed with Lymphoma and Wegener's Granulomatis. I won't try to explain the disease to you but you can find out more about it on this web site. Just click on the icon on the top right hand of the page. The good news is his Lymphoma is in remission. For me, all I need to know is the difficulty Rick and his family have gone through these past few years and watching how they have responded. I wish Rick had a more popular and/or hip disease like breast cancer, HIV or in need of rehab! But he doesn't! He has a disease I can't even pronounce. With any type of illness, those on the outside seek ways to help and one way I thought I could help is by raising money for an organization which deals with Wegener's Granulomatis and other similar conditions. I also decided to raise awareness and money for this condition by climbing to the top of Mt. Rainier. Much like Rick's dealing with his condition, climbing Mt. Rainier is long and arduous. It takes perserverence and strength. Therefore, please take a moment to learn about Rick's condition and if you feel so compelled, please donate to my climb and the Vasculitis Foundation. Thank you so much for your support.
