Behcet's Disease Books and Resources
The Behcet's Disease Books and Resource website was created by Joanne Zeis, a Behcet's patient and author of three publications about the disease. The American Medical Association recognized Joanne's work on behalf of Behcet's patients with a prestigious award writing: "Ms. Zeis works closely with the American Behcet's Disease Association and other internet-based groups to raise physician-patient awareness of the illness, both in the U.S. and overseas. As a result of her insight, empathy and energy, Ms. Zeis has produced numerous educational patient support publications, including two books on the rare disease, and has been profiled on Discovery Health Channel's Mystery Diagnosis documentary series in an episode regarding the challenges of diagnosis and serious health outcomes for patients with Behcet's Disease." Patients may purchase these resources on the website.
The Behcet's Syndrome Society, founded in 1983, is a UK patients support group for people with Behcets.
Listing of VF Chapters, Support Groups or Area Contacts
Most of the Vasculitis Foundation's support groups are open to patients with any type of vasculitis. The groups meet several times a year to discuss medical updates, ongoing research studies and to offer comfort and support to each other. Much can be learned at a meeting, whether it is a discussion among patients or features a medical professional or other expert. Behcet's patients are encouraged to contact VF chapter leaders in their area for further information.
