Awareness

Vasculitis represents a family of rare diseases that can affect people of all ages. Raising awareness and understanding of vasculitis is one of the most important activities a Vasculitis Foundation supporter can participate in.

Raising Awareness

Medical Community Awareness Raising awareness in the medical community increases the number of medical professionals familiar with vasculitis, which leads to quicker diagnosis and patients receiving effective treatment and achieving remission sooner with fewer ongoing health problems.
Vasculitis Awareness Kit The newly designed Vasculitis Awaress Kit is part of the 2010 Medical Awareness Outreach Project. The kit includes information on vasculitis, symptoms, treatments and VF services and is designed as a tool to make educating the medical community about vasculitis easier and more effective. The kits will be distributed at U.S. and international medical conferences for family physicians, internists and general practitioners.
Vasculitis Awareness Month Vasculitis Awareness Month is celebrated during the entire month of May. Members organize walks/runs/golf tournaments; distribute vasculitis information to doctors’ offices and pharmacies; speak at their churches, civic and community groups about the impact vasculitis has had on their lives; contact their congressional representatives to ask for funding for vasculitis research; ask their city and state governments to publicly acknowledge Vasculitis Awareness Month; send emails to their friends and family about vasculitis; contact their local media to be interviewed about their vasculitis story.
Grassroots Awareness VF members and supporters recognize that raising awareness of vasculitis is an every day activity. Educational materials including brochures and diseases cards are available for distribution by calling the VF office or completing the VF Literature Order Form.
